Creamy Chocolate ‘Milk’ Shake

Day 16 and we’ve got ENERGY!! I’m thrilled that everyone is still following along. Even if you’ve stumbled a little, pick yourself right up, dust off and try again. Your body will continue to thank you! And, after trying today’s recipe for Creamy Chocolate ‘Milk’ Shake, you’ll be back on the bandwagon in no time!

 

I get asked all the time what I eat for breakfast (other than eggs…because we are so tired of eggs…HA!), and lunch and snacks. Dinner is one thing to tackle during Whole 30 or a Paleo program, but there are other meals throughout the day, right?

 

Let me introduce you to the most delicious Creamy Chocolate ‘Milk’ Shake you will ever put to your lips…

 

This creamy milkshake is made of real food that consists of loads of vitamins and minerals, good fats (thank you, avocado), and protein to fuel you through your day. Whether your day is meetings, school drop offs and pick ups, seeing patients, kids activities…or running after tiny humans like I am doing all.the.time., this shake will get you through to the next activity.

 

And…you’re probably wondering why I’m putting avocado in my shake? Please, for the love of pearl, do NOT skip the avocado. This little green wonder is what makes your shake ultra-creamy, rich and very satisfying. The good fats in those avocadoes are what get you from A to B without a crash and burn.

 

And, since we’re lifting the restrictions on our program…just a little…I’ll let you choose between dates and honey, here. I used dates in the recipe below, however, if you’d like to use real honey, go ahead and add a teaspoon or two.

A luscious, creamy 'milk' shake made with whole food ingredients that will fuel you to take on the challenges of the day! Packed with vitamins & minerals, protein and good fats. Your search for a delicious-tasting shake is here!

Ingredients
  • 4 ounces almond milk (unsweetened)
  • 1/4 cup crushed ice
  • 1/2 ripe banana
  • 1-2 pitted dates (or you can use honey if you're just going Paleo now)
  • 1/4 avocado (hint: frozen avocado works well in here--grab 2 T. worth of cubes--AND do not leave this out, this is what makes it incredibly smooth)
  • 1 T. unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 T. almond butter
Directions
  • Step 1 Place all of the ingredients above in a blender and blend for 1 minute until super smooth and creamy and the dates have fully blended. Enjoy!
